The Science behind Solar Panels

At the heart of a solar panel is a material called a photovoltaic cell, or PV cell for short. PV cells are made of semiconductor materials, such as silicon, which have unique electrical properties that allow them to absorb light and convert it into electricity.

When daylight hits a PV cell, it causes electrons in the semiconductor material to become excited and move around, creating an electrical current. The PV cell then captures this current and sends it to a solar inverter, which converts the DC (direct current) electricity into AC (alternating current) electricity that can be used to power homes and businesses.

Types of Solar Panels

At the Energy Centre we only use the most efficient monocrystalline panels from leading manufacturers.

Solar panel systems can also vary in size, depending on the amount of electricity they need to generate. Larger systems are typically used for commercial and industrial applications, while smaller systems are used for residential homes and smaller businesses.
